25. SALARY SACRIFICE

25.1 Members covered by this award may elect to sacrifice a proportion of their salary to complying superannuation scheme of their choice, as defined in the Public Sector Superannuation Reform Act 1999, subject to compliance with any Tasmanian or Commonwealth Government directive and legislation.

25.2 Members will be able to salary sacrifice the compulsory contribution for employees covered by the Retirement Benefits Fund (RBF) defined benefits superannuation scheme. This will mean that the rate of employee contribution will be adjusted to reflect differing tax arrangements.

25.3   

(a)  Members may salary sacrifice all items available to State Service employees, including the following items:

·                    Laptop computers,

·                    Portable printer (for use with laptop computer)

·                    Mobile phone (predominantly for business use)

·                    Work related computer software

·                    Calculator

·                    Briefcase

·                    PDA

·                    Education fees (self)

·                    Superannuation (as per previous clauses)

 

(b)  Member's may salary sacrifice residential rent where premises are leased from the Department.

 25.4 Administrative costs incurred as a result of a member entering into or amending a salary sacrifice agreement will be met by the member.
