24. ISOLATED TASK FORCE OPERATIONS

24.1 Definitions

24.1.1 For the purposes of this clause, the following definitions apply unless contrary intention appears:

'Member' means a person permanently or temporarily appointed to the rank of Constable or Sergeant or Inspector under the Police Service Act 2003, and:
(a) is deployed on an isolated task force operation declared in accordance with subclause 24.3; and
(b) consents to the conditions prescribed within this clause.

24.1.2 The following clauses within this award shall cease to have effect for members working on an isolated task force operation:

24.2 Date of Operation

24.2.1 The conditions established within this clause shall be effective from the date identified in accordance with subclause 24.3 and until such time as the objectives of the isolated task force operation are completed.

24.3 Declaring a Protest Operation

24.3.1 The Controlling Authority may declare in writing to the Police Association of Tasmania that an operation is to be an isolated task force protest operation for the purpose of this clause.

24.3.2 The Controlling Authority shall not declare an operation to be an isolated task force protest operation unless the nature of the operation necessitates the Controlling Authority to accommodate its members on-site.

24.3.3 In declaring an operation as an isolated task force protest operation, the Controlling Authority is to provide a commencement date for the operation.

24.4 Work Periods and Rostered Days Off

24.4.1 Members will remain camped in the vicinity of the protest for five consecutive days or for the period of the operation whichever is the lesser, to be followed by at least two rostered days off, unless otherwise agreed by the member.

24.4.2 Rostered days off owing prior to the deployment of the member onto the isolated task force operation will continue to be applicable and will be taken following the member returning on the normal roster.

24.5 Accommodation

24.5.1 Suitable accommodation will be provided by the Controlling Authority to members, however, members may need to provide bedding.

24.5.2 Accommodation referred to in paragraph 24.5.1 will not include sleeping in tents.

24.6 Meals

24.6.1 Meals for all members will be provided by the Controlling Authority, including packed meals for those unable to return to camp during their shift.

24.6.2 Meal breaks will be provided for in accordance with operational requirements.

24.7 Camping Allowance

24.7.1 Members will be paid the Camping Allowance in accordance with paragraph 11.1.1 - Expense Allowances, where a cook is provided.

24.8 Overtime Allowance

24.8.1 The equivalent of five hours overtime shall be paid to each member per day in accordance with Clause 15 - Overtime, regardless of hours actually worked.

24.9 Recall to Duty

24.9.1 Members recalled to duty between the hours of 11.00pm and 6.00am shall be entitled to four hours time off, to be taken at a time mutually convenient with the member and the Controlling Authority.
