10. HARD TO FILL ISOLATED POSITIONS
10.1 Positions that are identified as hard to fill isolated shall be advertised as such in the Tasmanian Police Gazette.
10.2 A member shall be notified that the terms and conditions for appointment to an identified hard to fill isolated position shall involve a negotiable conditions package for the duration the position is occupied by the member.
10.3 Hard to fill isolated positions will be open for Constables and Sergeants to apply. The minimum salary to be applied will be equivalent to the level and rank of the officer appointed to the position.
10.4 The conditions that will be considered for negotiation will include, but not be restricted to the following:
(a) tenure (with options for renewal);
(b) salary level;
(c) qualifying training;
(d) education and training support;
(e) return visit expenses;
(f) housing rent;
(g) maintenance funds to be expended on the police residence during tenure;
(h) transfer expenses, including return to preferred location;
(i) placement preference on tenure being completed;
(j) spouse allowance;
(k) isolated area expense allowance;
(l) leave expenses.
10.5 A contract on agreed conditions will be established between the member and the Controlling Authority. The obligations for the member and the Controlling Authority whilst stationed in this locality will be confirmed as part of the transfer contract.
10.6 These arrangements will be applied to a member presently appointed to an identified hard to fill isolated position. A formal contract will be negotiated.
10.7 Where a member is appointed to a hard to fill isolated position immediately prior to their retirement, age or invalidity, the Property Purchase Allowance at subclause 12.3 - Transfer Expenses, is payable on return to their former locality. This is subject to the Property Sale Allowance at subclause 12.2 - Transfer Expenses, being paid on transfer to the hard to fill isolated position.
